Grupetto
Non-profit cultural organization aimed to develop and promote cultural activities in diversified communities.

“The most beautiful thing about music is that it can act as a time machine. A song—its lyrics, its melody, its mood—can, like nothing else, transport us to any moment in the past.”

Who we are?
We are a non-profit cultural organization that is composed of a team that has been working together in order to increase cultural landscapes through various presentations of musical background and the participation in events related to the widening of access and democratization of musical artistic practices. Grupetto has as its mission the development and promotion of cultural activities in diversified communities. This association is born through the realization of its members of the lack of cultural activities in their municipality, Valongo, part of the metropolitan area of Porto, and how different the cultural situation is regarding Porto’s. Grupetto’s purpose is to understand and fill the gaps regarding cultural opportunities, as well as widen as much as possible the horizons of the offer and participation in musical activities. The target audience of communal cultural action are individuals of all ages, highlighting the intervention with very young children (nursery and pre-school), elementary school age children and senior citizens, this way targeting the integration through music in all life stages of the population. It is thus promoted the early contact with music and its integration as a central tool in the processes of sustainable aging.

Who We Are / What We Do
Grupetto is a cultural association that promotes music as a tool for development and inclusion. We develop activities for all ages, with a special focus on early childhood, schoolchildren and senior citizens.
We work with daycare centers, elementary schools and senior citizen institutions, offering participatory and creative musical experiences adapted to each age group, always with specialized teachers and instruments provided by the association itself.
Our intervention is organized into three main programs:
Musical Initiation in Early Childhood (0–5 years) – fun and educational sessions in daycare centers and kindergartens;
SchoolBand (6–12 years) – group teaching of wind instruments in elementary schools;
Music Workshops for Seniors (55+) – creative sessions that promote active aging and social cohesion.
We believe that music should be present in all stages of life and in all social contexts. Through artistic sharing, we promote community bonds, inclusion and well-being. Our mission is to make music a bridge between generations.
