The main objective of this project is to work on the grounds of Escola Básica de Sampaio, with its 1st Cycle students, on artistic, social and community aspects with the purpose of seeking to mitigate failure and school dropout through the creation of mechanisms for involvement between students, guardians and family networks and the school staff. The vast majority of activities included in this project’s program aim to develop musical, collaborative and cooperative skills through the use of the School Band methodology in complementarity with methods specific to cultural dynamization in a community context. Through specialized and close work with this universe of around 60 students aged between 6 and 10 years old, the aim is to create habits of cooperation based on increasing the self-perception of capabilities and consequent self-esteem of each child, in addition to creating links with the school institution that allow the academic space to be redefined and thus enable academic success. Through presentations of the work developed by all the students – who will take the stage at a major musical event – it is hoped to involve the community in general, thus enabling a general awareness-raising action towards culture and the arts.

Providing children and young people with an opportunity to actively participate in a democratic experience is the primary objective of this program. We intend to develop the civic awareness of children and young people, focusing on the growth of the spirit of initiative and autonomy, through non-formal educational methods.
Encouraging group work, respecting different beliefs, experiences and cultural contexts, is one of our priorities. Promoting tolerance and solidarity among children and young people in the community is fundamental for us.
Aware of the impact that their positions and decisions can have on the construction of public policies in society in general, and in their community in particular, we seek to make children and young people aware of this responsibility.
Finally, we value the opinion and evaluation of young people, integrating them into project self-evaluation reports, thus ensuring their active participation in the process of development and continuous improvement of activities.
