A private music teaching entity, New Concept Music (NCM) was founded in 2016 with the aim of providing artistic education divided into different and varied aspects. From the theoretical component to the practical component, NCM has a vast team of teachers specialized in a wide range of instruments and areas of knowledge associated with music, highlighting the versatility of methodologies used in different learning contexts.

Teachers

Mário Barros (Director)
Trumpet teacher
Born in São Mamede Ribatua, on May 30, 1979. He began his musical studies in the Banda de São Mamede Ribatua, the oldest band in the country. Later he entered the Porto Conservatory, passing through Artave and Vila Nova de Gaia Conservatory in the class of Professor Paulo Silva, with whom he took instrument lessons. After completing 5th grade, he interrupted his studies to pursue a career as a police officer. Upon returning to his origins, he entered the University of Minho – Braga, in Trompete in the class of professor Vasco Faria. Since then, he has participated in several technical and musical improvement masterclasses with teachers Kevin and Pierre Dutot. In a wind orchestra, he has had the opportunity to work with conductors such as Carlos Marques, Paulo Martins, Pedro Neves. He is currently the soloist of the Porto Metropolitan Command Police Band. Higher Education Course in Music – Trumpet Performance at the University of Minho – Braga. He is a Cornetim (repiano) in the Dogma Brass Band (first Brass Band founded in Portugal). He is currently a professor and director of the NCM School of Music.

Débora Correia
Violin Teacher
Born in Mirandela, she began studying the violin at the age of seven with Paulo Peixoto at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga. She continued her studies with José Tavares at the Vale do Ave Professional Arts School.
In 1997, she was awarded 2nd Prize in Category B at the 1st Regional Violin Competition, and in 1999, she received 3rd Prize in Category D at the 1st Regional Bow Competition, both held at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga.
She participated in the “Bracara Augusta Youth Orchestra” training courses in 1997, 1998, and 1999 under the direction of Maestro António Baptista, and in the “National Association for Professional Music and Arts Education” – APROARTE courses in 1999, 2000, and 2001 under Maestro Ernest Schelle. In 2002, she performed in the operetta Die Lustige Witwe by F. Lehár, under Maestro Ivo Cruz, and in the opera Hänsel und Gretel by E. Humperdinck, under Maestro António Soares.
As a member of the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music Orchestras, ARTAVE Orchestra, ESMAE Sinfonietta Orchestra, Orquestra Sine Nomine, Espinho Classical Orchestra, Algarve Classical Orchestra, Póvoa de Varzim Symphony Orchestra, and Porto National Orchestra, she has had the opportunity to work with conductors including António Baptista, António Soares, Roberto Tibiriçá, Juan Trillo, Ernest Schelle, Emílio de César, Christoph Millet, Vasco Pierce de Azevedo, António Saiote, Yuri Nasushkin, Daniel Schweizer, Robertas Servinekas, Barbara Franck, Prof. António Ferreira dos Santos, Filipe Veríssimo, Jorge Matta, Johannes Skudlik, Cesário Costa, Jean-Marc Burfin, Pedro Neves, Osvaldo Ferreira, Ernest Martinez Izquierdo, Christoph König, Peter Rundel, Miguel Graça Moura, Christopher Seaman, and Sergio Alaponte.
She has also participated in violin masterclasses with Professors Alexei Michline, René Kubelik, Roman Nodel, and Dona Lee Croft.
In 2008, she obtained her Bi-stage Bachelor’s Degree in Violin from the School of Music and Performing Arts of Porto (ESMAE), under Professor Radu Ungureanu.
She has taught at the Conservatory of Music of Felgueiras, the Silva Monteiro Music Course (Porto), the Conservatory of Music of Maia, the Conservatory of Music of Fornos, the Conservatory of Music of Porto, FMAC – Guilhermina Suggia School of Music (Porto), and the Vilar do Paraíso Music Academy. Since 2012, she has been a violin teacher at the Costa Cabral Music Academy.
In 2024, she became a member of the Camerata Portuguesa, a musical project based on the concept of a chamber orchestra.
She currently teaches at NCM Escola de Música.

Filipa Bandeira
Viola, Violin and Cello Teacher
Filipa Paulo Bandeira (1992) completed her Master’s degree in Music Teaching at ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto (2021), in the class of Professor Joana Nunes, with her teaching internship at Conservatório de Música do Porto under Professor Hazel Veitch. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Viola from ESMAE, where she studied under Professor Jorge Alves.
As a performer, she has collaborated with several orchestras and ensembles, including Orquestra Clássica de Espinho (where she has been tutti violist and soloist since 2015), Orquestra Clássica do Centro, Orquestra Clássica do Sul, Arnema Orchestra, Ópera na Academia e na Cidade, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, and Rui Massena’s Large Ensemble, among others. She is a founding member of the Abalone Quartet and has performed at festivals such as Guimarães Jazz, Rock in Rio (with Rui Massena), Bragança ClassicFest, Viana d’Arcus, and Verão Clássico.
Alongside her performance career, she has developed extensive teaching experience, having taught at Conservatório de Música de Coimbra, Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva, Academia de Música de Viatodos, Estúdio de Música de Gaia, Escola de Música S. Teotónio, and in social projects such as Crescendo.pt.
Since 2023, she has been teaching violin, viola and string orchestra at NCM Escola de Música.

José Almeida
Classical Guitar Teacher
José Almeida was born in the city of Guarda on 09/05/1994. José saw his interest in music emerge at the age of 15, when he joined a garage band with his friends. In the 2010/2011 academic year he entered the Escola Profissional de Artes da Covilhã (EPABI) where he studied Classical Guitar with professor Edgar Petejo. In 2012/2013 he joined 2 guitar orchestras: Guitarrafonia and the EPABI guitar orchestra, under the guidance of maestro Rogério Peixinho and Jorge Pires, respectively. He performed several solo concerts, chamber music and orchestra, in national and international territories, highlighting the concerts in the auditoriums of Sernancelhe (with live broadcast on Antena 2), in the auditorium Hospedaria Fonseca (Salamanca, Spain), De 0osterpoort ( Groningen, Netherlands). That same year, the only two competitions he participated in to date stand out, obtaining 1st prize in the EPABI internal competition and 1st prize in the International City of Fundão competition in the orchestra category, with the EPABI guitar orchestra. Finishes the basic instrument course (2010/2013) in Professor Edgar Petejo’s class with 19 points in the Professional Aptitude Test. In 2013/2014 he joined Professor Pedro Ospina’s class and in the following academic year he joined Professor Pedro Gonzales and Professor Zaira Toledo. In 2015/2016, he joined Professor Francisco Morais Franco’s class and finished the String and Keys Instrumentalist Course (2013/2016) with a rating of 19 out of 19. In 2017 he entered the Prince Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, Netherlands where he began his studies with Sabrina Vlaškalić. In 2019, after the tragic death of her friend and teacher Sabrina Vlaškalić, she joined Goran Krivokapić’s class. He completed his graduation from the Prince Claus Conservatorium in Groningen in 2021 with a grade 9 out of 10. In addition to all his academic training over the years, he attended several masterclasses, including: Leo Brouwer, Zoran Dukić, Costas Cotsiolis, Carlo Marchione, Gabriel Bianco, Thibaut Garcia, Andrea De Vitis, Marko Topchii, Dejan Ivanović, Pedro Rodrigues, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Goran Krivokapić, Danijel Cerović, John Mills, Fernando Riscado Cordas, Enno Voorhorst, etc… He is currently a professor at the NCM School of Music.

Nuno Biltes
Electric and classical guitar teacher
Nuno Miguel Lago Biltes Vieira Lopes began, at the age of 9, studying the classical guitar with professor Paulo Gonçalves, at the Gambozinos music school. Later, he entered the Porto Music Conservatory, where he studied with professor João Durão Machado, until completing the 8th grade of the Complementary Music Course. In 2018, he successfully completed his degree in guitar at the University of Évora, under the supervision of renowned professor Dejan Ivanovich, with a final grade of 19. He is currently completing his Masters in Music Teaching at the University of Évora. Throughout his training, he had the opportunity to attend numerous masterclasses with different teachers, such as: Dejan Ivanović, Pedro Rodrigues, Zoran Duckić, Michalis Kontaxakis, Juan Almada, Hubert Käppel, Artur Caldeira; Ricardo Barceló. He participated in several classical guitar competitions, including: 3rd Place in the “II Amarante International Guitar Competition”, Category E; Honorable Mention in the III International Guitar Competition “Cidade de Guimarães”, Category F; 2nd Place and Revelation Award in the “Fundão International Competition 2017”, Higher Level; 2nd place in the “Fundão International Competition 2018”, Higher Level; 2nd place in the “Montijo International Guitar Competition 2019”, Higher Level; 2nd place in the “Fundão International Competition 2019”, Higher level. He began his career as a teacher in 2020, working at schools such as the Porto Music Conservatory, the Maia Music Academy, the Serzedo Music Academy and Colégio Mundo Do Colibri. He is also involved in different genres of music, with emphasis on his participation in the band Byrd Sno, an experimental music project that favors the use of electronics and amplified instruments. He is currently a professor at the NCM School of Music.

Francisco Gonçalves
Piano Teacher
His musical career began at the Orfeão de Leiria Conservatory of Arts in 2014 when he joined the Professional Music Course, Instrument Variant, Piano and Keys Branch as part of professor Vesna Manojlovic’s class. In 2017, he continued his studies at ESMAE where he completed his degree in music – instrument and singing variants in the class of Professor Luís Filipe Sá. Throughout his career he had the opportunity to participate in master classes with nationally and internationally renowned pianists such as Ana Teles, Constantin Sandu, Jill Lawson, Carla Seixas, Luís Pipa, Bin Wang, Nazareno Ferruggio and in chamber music with the pianist Maria Gabriella Bassi. He is currently a professor at the NCM School of Music.

Duarte Silva
Piano and Singing teacher
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1994, José Duarte Pinto Silva is a Portuguese harpsichordist, singer, and music educator currently based in Amsterdam.
He began his musical studies at the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, where he studied piano, voice, and harpsichord with professors such as Maria Cândida Matos, António Wagner Dinis, and José Bon de Sousa. He later obtained the Diplôme d’Études Musicales in Harpsichord from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon, under Catherine Latzarus and Mathieu Valfré, and went on to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Harpsichord Performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying with Menno van Delft and Kris Verhelst.
José holds a Master’s degree in Harpsichord Performance from the Kunstuniversität Graz, where he studied with Michael Hell, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Education (Harpsichord) at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in Porto.
He has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Pierre Hantaï, Christine Schornsheim, Elisabeth Joyé, and Nadja Lesaulnier. His artistic activity spans both solo and ensemble performance, including appearances at the Styriarte Festival and with the Graz Opera (Pygmalion production). He was a semi-finalist at the Annelie de Man International Contemporary Harpsichord Competition (2020) and recipient of the Martha Debelli Stipendium (2021).
Alongside his work as a soloist, José collaborates regularly with vocal and instrumental ensembles, including Quadrante Europa, Ensemble Pictórico (finalists in the Jovens Músicos Competition), and the jazz choir Musaico. He also serves as pianist for choirs such as Couleurs Vocales and Factory of Voices.
He is currently a professor at the NCM School of Music.

Arnaldo Fonseca
Accordion Teacher
My name is Arnaldo Fonseca, I started studying the accordion when I was nine years old. My father was my teacher. With musical training. When I was 14, I did a program on the now defunct national broadcaster in a program called light soloists; I was part of the orq. Resende dias and José Quelhas; I participated in a theater organized by the sap troupe under the musical direction of pianist Paulino Garcia; I participated in the theater at the Porto popular fair accompanying Portuguese artists such as Simone, Artur Garcia and others, I was part of the orch. Sinfônica do Algarve who accompanied Luciano os aeottu, I did jazz with Carlos Azevedo, Acácio saleiro and Antônio Aguiar in the various bars in Porto, I recorded with the piano teacher Helena Caspurro, I was part of the project with Artur Caldeira called Som Ibérico, I spent 12 years as accordionist at the Solverde casino and I’m currently part of a project called tres e tal with clarinetist Fernando Gama and double bassist Alberto Jorge. He is currently a professor at the NCM School of Music.

Eva Senra
Flute Teacher
Eva Senra (b. 2001, Barcelos) is a flutist and music teacher, with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Aveiro, where she studied transverse flute under the guidance of Professor Jorge Salgado Correia. During her master’s degree in Music Education, she completed a teaching internship at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Aveiro, with Professor Ana Maria Ribeiro, completing her training with an average of 18.
She has taught in special education institutions, daycare centers, and informal learning settings, combining her teaching practice with participation in Erasmus+ mobility projects and training in digital transformation in music education (DigiMusi, 2023 and 2024). She is also a certified yoga trainer for babies and children.
As a performer, she has been a member of Flutua – the University of Aveiro Flute Orchestra, collaborated with the Portuguese Flute Association on initiatives such as Flute Ensembles Across Europe 2023, and served as a backup musician for the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras (2022 and 2023). She served as a section monitor for summer internships at Mêda (2024 and 2025) and the Banda Musical de Oliveira (2023 and 2025).
She has participated in several masterclasses with renowned flutists, including Patrick Gallois, Michel Bellavance, Juliette Hurel, and Nuno Inácio, and in numerous workshops related to music, creativity, theater, and body relaxation.
Between 2017 and 2023, she served as a youth association leader and has collaborated on projects supported by DGArtes, demonstrating versatility, a collaborative spirit, and a strong aptitude for pedagogy and artistic creation.
She currently teaches at NCM Escola de Música.

Soraia Martins
Oboe and saxophone teacher
Soraia de Barros Martins was born on August 4, 2000, in Matosinhos. She began studying in 2006 at the Music School of Banda Musical de Gondomar. In 2010, she entered the Porto Music Conservatory, in oboe, with professor Rui Pinto, where she finished his secondary music course in 2018. She attended masterclasses with professors Tamás Bartók, Nelson Alves, Aldo Salvetti, Juliana Félix, Tiago Coimbra and Luís Matos.
From 2007 to 2023 she was an oboist in the Banda Musical de Gondomar, directed by maestro Luís Carvalhoso. She is currently an oboist in the Banda Musical de Calvos, under the direction of maestro Henrique Torres.
As an orchestral musician, she had the opportunity to collaborate with conductors Paulo Martins, Fernando Marinho, Jean Marc-Burfin, Pedro Andrade, José Vilaplana, Rafa Albors, Afonso Alves, Luís Carvalho, Ignatius Wang, Luciano Pereira, Vítor Matos, Pedro Neves, Jose Maria Moreno, David Fiuza, Hans Castleyn, Luís Ribeiro, Vasco Faria, Pedro Afonso and Franco Cesarini. She has been working as a teacher at the Music Academy of Banda Musical de Gondomar since the 2019/2020 academic year.
In 2018, she was admitted to the University of Minho in the class of professor Aldo Salvetti, completing her degree in Music in 2021.
In 2021, she was admitted to the University of Minho for a Master’s degree in Music Teaching – Instrument Specialization Area.
In 2022 she taught music AECs at the Baguim de Monte school center.
Completed on October 28, 2023 the Master’s Degree in Music Teaching – Specialization Area in Instrument (M14) and Ensemble Music (M32).
She is currently a teacher at NCM Escola de Música.

Rui Soares
Clarinet teacher
Born in Arouca, Rui Soares holds a Master’s degree in Music Teaching (2024) and a Master’s degree in Artistic Performance (2022) from ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo do Porto, where he studied clarinet under Professor Nuno Pinto, graduating with final marks of 17 and 18 (out of 20), respectively.
He is particularly dedicated to chamber music, being a founding member of the Xenagos Trio and of the Wind Quintet of Banda Musical de Arouca. He also develops projects involving clarinet and electronics, as well as the exploration of contemporary performance techniques. Since February 2025, he has been clarinetist of the Ensemble Orquestral da Beira Interior.
His musical journey began in 2005 at Academia de Música de Arouca, later continuing his studies at Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva with Professor Victor Pereira, where he completed his secondary music studies with the highest distinction (final mark of 19 out of 20). In 2017, he was admitted to ESMAE, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Clarinet in 2020.
He has performed as soloist with the Wind Orchestras of Arouca and Castelo de Paiva, the Clarinet Ensemble of Castelo de Paiva and Banda Musical de Arouca. He frequently collaborates with renowned ensembles and orchestras, such as Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa, Orquestra de Câmara do Distrito de Braga, Orquestra da Costa Atlântica, Orquestra Clássico do Centro, Orquestra da Ópera na Academia e na Cidade, and Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras.
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous orchestra festivals and masterclasses with internationally renowned clarinetists including António Saiote, Victor Pereira, Nuno Pinto, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Florent Héau, Gabor Varga, Shirley Brill, among many others. He was awarded 1st Prize at the Internal Competition of Academia de Música de Arouca (2014) and 3rd Prize at the Musical Olympiads of Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva (2017).
He currently teaches Clarinet and Chamber Music at the Escola de Música da Banda Musical de Arouca and at NCM Escola de Música.

Ana Marques
Tuba, bombardino and trombone teacher
Ana Raquel Ferreira Marques (1999), born in Guimarães, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Tuba from ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (2021–2024) and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Teaching – Instrumental (Tuba) at the same institution. She also completed the 8th Grade in Music at Conservatório Vale do Sousa, where she began her formal training.
She has performed with several orchestras, including Orquestra Sinfónica do Ave, Orquestra Prescrição Musical, Orquestra Filarmónica de Braga, Orquestra do Norte, and Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa (2024, 2025). She is a founding member of the Camélia Brass Quintet and has also collaborated with Dogma Brass Band, LEAPS Brass Band, and GOOZE House Marching Band.
Ana Raquel has worked with renowned conductors such as Jan Wierzba, José Eduardo Gomes, José Rafael Vilaplana, Martin Andre, Fernando Marinho, Paulo Martins, and Francisco Ferreira, among others. She has also attended masterclasses with internationally recognized tubists, including Juan Jose Munera, José Martinez, Daniel Perantoni, Henrique Santos, Ricardo Carvalhoso, Sérgio Carolino, Adélio Carneiro, and James Gourley.
She was awarded 2nd Prize in the Senior Category at the XV International Wind Instruments Competition in Oliveira de Azeméis (2023) and has taken part in projects funded by the Direção-Geral das Artes, such as Jangada Metálica (2025) and Homenagem a Braga (2025).
She is currently a professor at the NCM School of Music.

Jéssica Peixoto
Percussion teacher
Jessica Peixoto is a percussion teacher with a strong focus on traditional, classical, and contemporary percussion techniques. Her pedagogical approach is student-centred, emphasising motivation, efficient practice strategies, and methods designed to maximise both learning and musical performance.
Born on 4 April 2000 in Portugal, Jessica began her formal music education at the Conservatory of Music of Felgueiras, where she completed her basic music course from 2010 to 2015. She continued her studies at the Costa Cabral Music Academy, specialising in wind instruments and percussion, and completed the professional course in 2018.
Jessica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a focus on percussion from the University of Minho, Department of Music, which she completed in 2022. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Contemporary Artistic Creation at the University of Aveiro, within the Department of Communication and Art (DeCA).
Throughout her career, Jessica has developed extensive experience teaching students of various ages and proficiency levels. She possesses deep knowledge of music notation software, and she is skilled at adapting her teaching methods to accommodate students with special educational needs. She is recognised for her strong ability to provide constructive feedback, her competence in directing and arranging percussion ensembles, and her ability to create an inclusive and positive learning environment. Additionally, she has experience in music recording and production techniques, and she is adept at integrating percussion into diverse educational contexts, including theatre and dance.
Jessica has participated in numerous international percussion workshops and conferences, including events at the Costa Cabral Music Academy, the Conservatory of Music of Felgueiras, the Tomarimbando International Percussion Festival, the University of Minho, and the 2nd Itinerant Percussion Festival in Évora. She has also contributed to specialised publications on musical performance, notably with the scientific article “Enhanced Musical Performance” published by the University of Aveiro.
In her teaching career, Jessica has served in various roles, including as a teaching assistant in arts learning programs such as the AAAF – Programme Mais Três. She has taught percussion in enrichment activities for primary education at Agrupamento de Fermentões. She has also worked as a percussion teacher under fixed-term contracts at the Sociedade Filarmónica Vizelense and as a public employment teacher at the Escola Artística do Conservatório de Música Calouste Gulbenkian in Braga. Since 2024, she has continued to develop her professional expertise while teaching and contributing to the growth of percussion education in Portugal.
She is currently a teacher at NCM Escola de Música.

Tiago Silva
Music training teacher, musical initiation and choir
Tiago José dos Santos Silva holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the School of Education of Porto and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Teaching – Music Theory and Ensemble Classes (ESE/ESMAE). He began studying clarinet at the age of 12, building a solid artistic and academic path. He completed an Erasmus semester in Slovenia, where he deepened his musical and pedagogical skills in an international environment. Throughout his journey, he has performed with various ensembles, including the Banda Musical de Rio Mau, the Wind Octet and Wind Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Porto, and he has taken part in concerts at Casa da Música, Igreja da Lapa and the CMP Auditorium. He has attended masterclasses with renowned clarinettists, earned distinctions in internal competitions, and maintains regular activity as a performer in wind bands and orchestral projects. He has also developed strong skills in music theory, ensemble practice and music pedagogy, taking part in initiatives such as the Autumn School of ESE and CIPEM. He is fluent in English and has international experience through his Erasmus mobility programme.
